Man sentenced to 25 years in prison for 2020 Cedar Rapids shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A man who pleaded guilty in a deadly shooting in Cedar Rapids was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Friday afternoon.

Damontie Haggstrom-Wells, of Fort Madison, had been charged with first-degree murder in the 2020 death of 69-year-old Daniel Spangler.

Haggstrom-Wells shot Spangler back in 2020 when he was a minor, but police didn’t arrest him until 2023…
