Class action lawsuit against Monsanto Bayer could bring $7.25 billion to some Iowans

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Some Iowans could qualify for a portion of a $7.25 billion class action settlement against Monsanto Bayer, the company that produces the weed killer Roundup. A Missouri judge has pre-approved the settlement, but a Cedar Rapids attorney says it could be some time before that money becomes available.

The settlement is available to people who develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma — either now or in the future — and who were exposed to glyphosate, the key ingredient in Roundup herbicide. Recipients must prove they were exposed to Roundup before February 2026.

Attorney: Settlement is about managing risk, not admitting fault

Darin Luneckas, owner of Luneckas Law in Cedar Rapids, specializes in personal injury cases, including those involving glyphosate exposure. He said the next steps after pre-approval involve identifying a resolution and locating eligible claimants.

“Once a class is approved, then the next step is how do we find a resolution, and then how do we find people that are in the class — all the litigants that are in the class who have claims — a way to opt in or out of what the settlement is going to be,” Luneckas said…
