Area girls’ track teams competed at the IATC Indoor Championships in Ames last weekend, with the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks taking home the championship in Class 2A.
Mid-Prairie took first place in 2A with 75 team points. Jeorgia Evans finished in first place in the 60m finals with a time of 7.87. Sophie Miller and Tessa Bombei finished seventh and eighth in the 60m hurdle finals with times of 9.98 and 10.08. Jovi Evans and Jeorgia Evans took second and fourth in the 200m with times of 25.56 and 26.38. In the 800m, Rachel Hostetler finished sixth with a time of 2:30.24 while Tessa Brokaw finished 11th with a time of 2:33.50. Kendal Landstrum finished fourth in the 1500m with 5:07.63. Brooklyn Stutzman finished second in the 3000m with a time of 10:54.33.
In the 800m sprint medley relay, the team of Bombei, Myli Hershberger, Graci Hershberger, and Kyrie Poll finished eighth with a time of 2:00.56. The team of Jovi Evans, Poll, Myli Hershberger, and Jeorgia Evans took second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 50.50. Sophie Miller, Jovi Evans, Olivia Schlabach, and Bombei took fourth in the 4x60m shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 41.12. In the 4x400m relay, Hostetler, Brokaw, Ruby Miller, and Poll finished sixth with a time of 4:22.88.
