Linn County continues discussion, makes changes on power plant rules after community concerns

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Linn County leaders are taking more time before finalizing new rules that would regulate future gas-fired power plants, including a proposed facility in the county.

The Linn County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the third reading of the ordinance Wednesday, but also scheduled a fourth reading for next week.

The proposed ordinance would set zoning standards for large energy projects, including requiring power plants to be at least 2.25 miles away from population centers…
