Palo holding town hall on proposed Google data center

PALO, Iowa — The City of Palo is holding a town hall Tuesday night on plans from Google to bring a billion dollar data center to the area.

Google has previously worked with Linn County to bring a data center to an unincorporated part of the county near the Duane Arnold Energy Center nuclear plant, which is in the process of being recommissioned.

Linn County worked for months crafting regulatory and economic framework for the project, which Board of Supervisors say protects citizens and focused on long-term water sustainability. Data centers like these take massive amounts of water to operate…
