Walking into Hancher Auditorium on the evening of March 25 gave me chills. Just entering into Hancher’s sprawling space I could feel the anticipation among Bob Dylan fans.
Dylan’s “Rough and Rowdy Ways” tour has been running since 2021, as the artist has continued extending dates out of compulsion to meet demand. There was indeed demand in Iowa City Wednesday night as a sold out crowd hummed with excitement as Dylan’s bandmates warmed up on stage once 8 p.m. hit.
With minimal fanfare, the Dylan way, the show eased into its beginning. Dylan and the guitar players, drummer, and bassist warmed up with a couple songs while the house lights remained on. Then without a bang, the lights dimmed and Dylan’s signature nasally voice filled the auditorium…
