CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – We’ll see highs swing back above normal heading into a more active weather week.

The effects of today’s cold front will be felt tonight, with temperatures falling into the upper 20s to low 30s. Winds will be quite blustery during the evening, but they should get a little lighter late tonight. Don’t expect calm conditions, though.

Any shower activity this evening will wind down early, and the focus for new thunderstorm development should stay off to our southeast. After about 9:00 p.m., we should see dry conditions persist into the night.

That dryness holds true for Friday, too, and so do the cooler temperatures. We’ll basically be right about where we started the work and school week, with highs in the 40s. Winds will pick up a bit again during the day, adding to the chill. To counter it a bit, we should see a bit more sunshine than today.

The coldest portion of this shift in temperatures will be felt on Saturday morning, when lows will be in the upper 10s to low 20s. That’s going to make for a pretty chilly start to the day, but we’ll warm up decently into the upper 40s to 50s by the afternoon. Plenty of sunshine should be around, too, though it’ll again be breezy. This time, those winds will come from the south or southwest, kicking off another warming trend.

We’ll feel it on Sunday, with highs set to surge into the 60s or even low 70s for areas in the south and west. A few more clouds will be present, but winds may be a touch lighter if still somewhat breezy. All in all, both weekend days offer really decent weather for late March…
