CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The closed cafe at the Cedar Rapids Public Library will open this summer under new management by Horizons – A Family Service Alliance, the nonprofit that provides Meals on Wheels.
The library requested proposals from businesses interested in taking over the vacant cafe space after Roasters Coffeehouse left in September. Although no one initially expressed interest, Horizons later decided it would be a good fit.
Horizons is expanding its role by managing the cafe, which is different from its typical nonprofit activities. By doing so, Horizons will continue its mission of providing food to people through Meals on Wheels and its latest initiative, Catering for a Cause…
