NWS confirms an EF-0 tornado in rural Johnson County

Downey, Iowa — The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities confirmed Saturday that an EF-0 tornado tracked just over two miles and crossed Highway 6 one mile southwest of Downey

The weather service said its damage survey found a lofted corn crib, snapped trees, a bent auger, and partially destroyed a roof on a farm outbuilding.

This tornado was a part of the long-lived supercell that also produced the EF-1 tornado that spanned 18 miles across Clinton and Jackson counties…
