Flood Warnings Extended for Area Counties

The flood warnings issued by the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities have been extended for Louisa, Muscatine, Iowa, and Benton Counties.

The Iowa River near Wapello in Louisa County is under a flood warning from late Saturday night to late Wednesday morning. At 22 feet water affects residences near the Highway 61 bridge. As of 8 p.m. Thursday the water was at 19.5 feet, and the river has continued to slowly rise. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Sunday morning to a crest of 21.6 feet Monday morning. The flood stage is 21 feet.

The Iowa River at Oakville is experiencing minor flooding with more flooding in the forecast. At 11.5 feet River Road is under water and the water is a few feet up onto the levee. As of 8 p.m. Thursday the water was up to 9.5 feet. The flood stage is 11 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage Sunday morning to a crest of 11.5 feet Monday morning.
