CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Cedar Rapids Community School District is suing the state of Iowa after losing $18 million in funding for programs that support at-risk students.
According to the Des Moines Register, the district is asking a judge to overturn a decision by the Iowa Department of Education to cut that funding.
State officials based their decision on an anonymous complaint that raised concerns about possible ethics violations and misuse of funds. One of the issues mentioned was a promotional event known as the “Superintendent’s Backyard Dinner.”…
