Johnson County EMA changes severe weather response after hail damages emergency vehicles

JOHNSON CO, Iowa (KCRG) – Johnson County is changing how it responds to severe weather after large hail damaged emergency vehicles during storms over the last week.

The county will now hold rescue vehicles back until hail cells move through an area to prevent damage, according to Johnson County Emergency Management Director Dave Wilson.

“My understanding from the sheriff’s office is that they had dinged up damage to a windshield on one of their vehicles, and most of the flat metal on another one was pretty dinged up and dented up,” Wilson said…
