IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The City of Iowa City says strong winds occurring around 11 p.m. on April 23 brought damage to areas of the city.
The Iowa City Fire Department says it responded to calls related to the storm including lightning strikes, someone trapped in their home because of a downed tree, two people trapped in an elevator, downed powerlines and a report of a fire on Riverside Drive. There were no reports of injuries connected to the storm.
Several homes also experienced damage from fallen trees and tree limbs. People can report trees or tree limbs affecting public areas, like roads and sidewalks to the City. Residents are responsible for trees and limbs on their own property. Fallen branches should be cut and bundled up to city specifications…
