More than 100 Iowa National Guard soldiers to be welcomed home in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – More than 100 soldiers will be welcomed home Thursday at the Iowa Army Guard Armory in Cedar Rapids.

About 107 soldiers will be honored around 2 p.m. Additional soldiers from this group will arrive to their home of record due to travel logistics, according to a release.

The troops were part of more than 1,800 that had been deployed since May 2025 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, a counter-terrorism effort in Iraq and Syria. About 200 soldiers have already returned from the mission…
