The Arizona Board of Education last week approved $1.3 million for school resources officers at 10 Gilbert Public School campuses, and only $97,500 for a counselor in Higley Unified.
The money is part of $82 million in grants awarded to districts across the state through the School Safety Program (SSP), a competitive, state-funded grant open to Arizona’s traditional public schools and charter schools.
