Charley Taylor said the goal was never to start a nonprofit. Instead, she was touched by the thousands of people who attended the funeral for her son, Larry Thomas, and felt a need to do something.
“It’s just one of those things that I didn’t want to bury it,” said Taylor, a Chandler resident. “I wanted to keep his memory alive and continue what he started, impacting the youth and everybody that we came in contact with.”
Thomas was the dropout coordinator and varsity track coach at Mountain Pointe High School when he died from brain cancer in 2019. He had previously taught at Cactus, Desert Edge and Copper Canyon high schools…
