A man was stabbed early Monday morning in South Phoenix and suffered life-threatening injuries, and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, leaving police searching for a man believed to have carried out the attack. First responders were called to a report of an injured person near 21st Street and Broadway Road, where they found the victim seriously hurt and rushed him to a hospital.
Phoenix police say the suspect is believed to be another man who ran off before officers could reach the location, according to Arizona’s Family. It is not yet known what led to the stabbing or whether the victim and suspect knew each other, and those questions remain open as detectives continue to piece together what happened.
A Corridor With a Troubled History
The intersection falls within the jurisdiction of the Phoenix Police Department’s South Mountain Precinct, which provides round-the-clock patrol coverage across 115 square miles from its station on West Southern Avenue. This is not the first fatal stabbing to rattle South Phoenix’s transit corridors. In April 2024, Hoodline reported that a man died after being stabbed at a South Phoenix bus stop, prompting detectives to launch a public appeal for witnesses.
