Honeywell Aerospace, Phoenix Aviation Department to test runway safety tech

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Honeywell Aerospace is partnering with the Phoenix Aviation Department to study expanding what is known as surface alert technology to ground vehicles at three Valley airports.

The study comes after a plane collided with a fire truck on the runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport in March, killing two pilots and injuring dozens more.

A spokesperson with Sky Harbor said the city of Phoenix is investing about $30,000 to test the technology…
