TIMES SQ. MIGRANTS IN ICE CUSTODY: 4 apprehended on Greyhound bus in Arizona, says DHS

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Four individuals charged with attacking NYPD officers outside a Times Square migrant shelter were apprehended by immigration officials Monday on a Greyhound bus in Arizona and taken into ICE custody for “immigration violations,” the Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday night.

“On Feb. 5, special agents with Homeland Security Investigations, Enforcement and Removal Operations and U. S. Border Patrol apprehended four individuals on a bus who were travelling to the Phoenix Greyhound Bus Station from El Paso, Texas,” spokesperson Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe said in a statement to 1010 WINS.

She added, “The subjects were believed to be fleeing the state of New York from their suspected involvement in a coordinated assault on multiple New York City Police Department (NYPD) Officers.”

“On Feb. 6, the four individuals were transferred to the custody of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) to be processed for immigration violations.”

It’s unclear exactly which of the suspects were taken into custody.
