For Cheri Citron of Mesa, the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were especially gut-wrenching. “I was getting ready and saw the TV and watched everything unfold,” she recalled, “and went into panic mode because I couldn’t get ahold of many of my family members that lived in New York and didn’t know whether they were dead or alive.”
