Woman arrested after showing signs of impairment following I-10 collision that killed 1

A woman was arrested Sunday afternoon in Chandler after crashing into a vehicle and pushing it into another at the Interstate 10 off-ramp by Ray Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Bart Graves, a department spokesperson, said a woman driving a 2023 Mercedes sedan failed to stop for traffic and crashed into a Yukon SUV, pushing it into a Chevrolet sedan. Graves said the driver of the Yukon SUV was taken to a hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Graves said the woman driving the Mercedes showed signs of impairment and was arrested. Witnesses told troopers that they saw the woman driving recklessly prior to the fatal crash. It was not immediately clear what charges the woman faced.
