Chandler restaurant and board game location opens Friday

Mox Boarding House has a grand opening planned for its Chandler location the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 20.

Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke will help open the combination board game store and restaurant with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m.

The new store is at 1371 N. Alma School Road in north Chandler, just south of Knox Road, in the former Social Box location.

Since its first location opened in Seattle in 2011, Mox Boarding House has billed itself as a community hub where people come to connect with friends. The Chandler location appears to be the first MBH in Arizona and only the fourth location overall.

Visitors can enjoy filling dishes, including the signature Tavern Mac, or drink at a full-service bar stocked with beers, wines, ciders, and craft cocktails. The restaurant seats 86 guests and the menu has vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

There will also be hundreds of board games available for free play, with thousands more available for purchase, including Dungeons & Dragons, Pokémon, Warhammer, and Magic: The Gathering.
