3 Local Chain Restaurants Receive D-Level Inspection Grades

You might be surprised at how many restaurants and food-handling facilities are inspected weekly around greater Phoenix. Between October 11 and 17 alone, there were a total of 1,254 inspections. With so many performed every week, it’s amazing how most of the restaurants perform. While it would be nice to highlight every single restaurant that does not receive a single violation during its annual inspection, that list would include hundreds weekly. Instead, it’s simpler to point out the locations that fall short. This week, three of the worst-performing restaurants were actually chain restaurants.

Chain restaurants typically excel at inspections, due to all the precautions set in place, and the safeguards of removing franchises from managers who are unable to stay up to the task. Despite this, of the seven restaurants in greater Phoenix to receive an automatic D-level inspection grade, three of them are chain brands. 

A restaurant receives an automatic D-level inspection if it has at least three Priority Violations. A Priority Violation is one that directly contributes to the chance of foodborne illness and injury
