Staff at the Walmart Supercenter at 1175 S. Arizona Avenue welcomed two-legged and four-legged customers to its new in-house pet center on Oct. 18.
It’s the second type of center Walmart has in Arizona and only its fifth in the U.S., according to a news release.
Walmart granted $1,000 to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, with Mars Inc. matching the donation.
Featured services will include routine veterinary care, such as vaccines, wellness exams and minor medical services. There are also grooming services, such as baths, nail trims, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and basic hair trims.
The release states Walmart will choose experienced veterinary and grooming professionals in collaboration with PetIQ.
There’s also a self-service dog wash. Walmart is offering a pet prescription delivery as well.
Chandler City Council member Jane Poston and her beloved dog Sony, along with Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke, were on hand for the Oct. 18 ribbon cutting. First-day visitors were able to bring home samples, such as Mars, Inc.-provided treats from Greenies and Iams pet food.
