Rising water expenses frustrate Mesa officials

Developers of multifamily housing with two to four units in Mesa may see the one-time impact fee increase to $109 from $62 under the budget proposed by the city Solid Waste Department.

For the fiscal year that begins July 1, the department plans to spend $50.2 million for its core business operations. Various city departments have been giving details of their spending. Council is scheduled to adopt the tentative budget May 19, with final adoption June 2.

“We’ve also been looking at our operations and seeing how we can modify some of our services to reduce the pressures of our rates in the future,” said Sheri Collins, Solid Waste director at the April 17 council study session…
