Judge denies Talyn Vigil’s request to send Preston Lord case back to grand jury

A judge has decided that the case of a person charged in the killing of Preston Lord will not go back to a grand jury.

Talyn Vigil, 19, was one of seven people charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the October 2023 beating death of Lord, 16, at a Halloween party in Queen Creek. Only one of the defendants has admitted guilt in the case; others have pleaded not guilty.

Vigil’s defense team had argued that prosecutors violated his rights by presenting misleading evidence and omitting details that could have suggested his innocence to a Maricopa County grand jury in 2024…
