Youth bike crashes in Gilbert spur call for stricter e-bike regulations

GILBERT, Ariz. — The Town of Gilbert could soon see new regulations surrounding e-bike and motorbike use. The council is considering different ways to improve bike safety in the community, as more young riders hit the streets.

The Gilbert Town Council recently held a special study session surrounding bike use in the community. Councilmember Chuck Bongiovanni said there has been a 50% increase in teen bike crashes in Gilbert, from fiscal year 2024 to 2025.
