Volunteers from around the Phoenix Valley convened at Life Changers Global Ministries in South Phoenix to aid in cleaning up the aftermath of a destructive fire suspected to be arson. According to ABC15 News, the blaze, which occurred two weeks prior, has rallied the local community in a significant display of support, as they worked together to begin the rebuilding process.
The fire demolished a back building that was key to the church’s operations, housing supplies for homeless outreach, and a preschool. As reported by The Arizona Republic, Pastor Earl Newton expressed resolve despite the loss, stating, “Like that Phoenix bird, we’re going to rise from the ashes.” Concerns regarding the fire’s intentional origin were underscored by the absence of electricity and gas supplies in the structure. Pastor Newton also mentioned incidents involving individuals on church grounds earlier that day, fueling suspicion of the fire’s nefarious inception.
Businesses alongside private individuals are contributing to the restoration efforts, with donations such as cleanup supplies from Home Depot and heavy equipment provided by local construction firms, as detailed in the ABC15 News report.
