Mesa park ranger boss retires as ‘Goon Squad’ probe nears end

The man who supervised Mesa’s embattled and controversial park ranger team is the fourth member to leave the city, following months of investigations into misconduct allegations.

Brett Burton’s last day as a city employee was Oct. 20, city spokesperson Ana Periera confirmed. He did not resign from the position but rather retired, she said.
