A Phoenix police officer sustained injuries in a collision with another vehicle this past Saturday evening, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. The incident occurred near 32nd Street and Fairmont at around 10:17 p.m. on November 29. A vehicle, while making a left turn, struck the patrol car, though the precise cause of the collision remains under investigation. The officer, who suffered minor injuries, was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, and no arrests have been made as of yet.
In a separate incident, Phoenix Officer Joshua Allen Woodcock faces criminal charges after a different, more severe crash back in March that left three people injured, including Officer Woodcock. Initially reported by KTAR News, the officer was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of aggravated assault and endangerment for allegedly driving at a speed of 50 mph over the limit before the on-duty crash.
According to Phoenix Sergeant Lorraine Fernandez, “Our officers are expected to uphold the same laws they enforce, and when standards are not met, we have an obligation to act,” in a statement concerning the indictment. The rollover crash involved one of the department’s SUVs and another vehicle at the intersection of the I-17 access road and Buckeye Road.
