Page Mourns the Loss of ‘Mr. Community’ David Auge

The City of Page is reflecting on the life of City Councilor David Wayne Auge, who passed away on the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026, in St. George, Utah, following a prolonged health battle. He was 74. Auge, known affectionately by some as “Auge Doggie” and by others as “Mr. Community,” leaves behind a legacy defined by decades of volunteerism, public safety service, and a seat on the City Council he held until his final days.

From New York to the Arizona Desert

Born in Olean, New York, in 1951, Auge moved to Tempe, Arizona, at age 11. A graduate of Tempe High School and Mesa Community College, his journey to Page began in 1976 following his marriage to his wife, Nancy. What was originally intended to be a temporary management position at the local Yellow Front store turned into a permanent residency that spanned half a century. Auge spent 15 years managing Yellow Front before moving into district management and later serving as the Unit Controller for Aramark for two decades until his retirement in 2019…
