Authorities identify suspect killed in Apache Junction police shooting

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The suspect shot and killed by Apache Junction police over the weekend has been identified by investigators, who now say he was holding a black BB gun.

On Tuesday, Mesa PD, as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team, identified the suspect in Saturday’s deadly police shooting as 69-year-old Charles Back. Investigators said Back was holding a Sig Sauer BB gun when he raised it at police, forcing officers to open fire.
