MESA, Ariz. — Pilots flying into Falcon Field will soon have to pay a landing fee after the Mesa City Council approved a new policy Monday, a move that drew strong reaction from flight instructors and aviation businesses who say it could force them to shut down.
The council unanimously approved the change following more than three hours of discussion, saying the historic airport was not generating enough revenue to remain financially sustainable.
