PHOENIX — A 5-year-old girl was rescued from a Phoenix Mountain Preserve Friday after slipping and injuring her head while hiking with her mother, Phoenix fire officials said.
Crews were called around 10:45 a.m. to the 40th Street trailhead at Shea Boulevard. They located the child about 100 yards from the base of the mountain. The girl was alert and responsive when firefighters arrived, authorities said.
