Early Wednesday morning in Phoenix, a quiet apartment complex suddenly turned into a crash scene when a pickup truck barreled straight through a family’s living room. The impact jolted everyone awake and, according to the mother, missed her sleeping children upstairs by a matter of feet. Shaken but incredibly fortunate, the family told reporters they escaped without physical injuries.
First responders were called just before 5 a.m. to the area near 13th Avenue and Tonto Street, where crews found a white pickup truck lodged in the apartment wall, as reported by Arizona’s Family. The outlet reports that the driver was seen in handcuffs at the scene and was later taken to a hospital as a precaution. Police told the station that investigators believe impairment may have been a contributing factor in the wreck.

Impairment and speeding remain two of the biggest factors behind deadly crashes in Arizona. According to data from ADOT, there were 347 alcohol-related fatalities and 3,576 alcohol-related injuries statewide in 2024.
