City of Phoenix approves amendment to restrict food sharing in parks

The Phoenix City Council approved increasing restrictions on food distribution within its parks Wednesday afternoon in a 6-3 vote.

This was done through an amendment to the Safe Medical Treatment in Parks Ordinance, which was approved in December when the city cracked down on and required permission for medical treatment within Phoenix parks.

With Wednesday’s approval, organizations and individuals will need permission from the city to provide medical treatment and share food in more than 150 parks…
