SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Gullah/Geechee Nation invites families, community members, culture keepers, artists and visitors to “jayn we” throughout June for a series of culturally enriching celebrations honoring Juneteenth, Gullah/Geechee heritage and the legacy of Black music.
From Savannah, Ga., to Charleston and Fairfax, S.C., the June celebrations will uplift freedom, craft, cuisine, music, history and the living traditions of the Gullah/Geechee Nation.
“Juneteenth and Black Music Month are powerful reminders that our freedom, our rhythms, our language, our foodways, our artistry and our spiritual traditions continue to sustain Black and Gullah/Geechee people,” said Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. “Jayn we! Disya gwine be a Gullah/Geechee good time!”
