Summerville man accused of posing as physician, performing medical exams

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — A man is facing charges after he allegedly represented himself as a physician and performed medical examinations.

Joshua Leonard James Himes, 36, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct and unlawfully practicing medicine.

Dorchester County deputies met with a victim regarding sexual assault allegations and conducted a comprehensive investigation, examining the allegations, collecting and analyzing evidence and pursuing all available leads.

Detectives learned that Himes allegedly represented himself as a physician and performed medical examinations. They determined that he does not have a South Carolina medical license nor is he authorized to perform medical examinations, sheriff’s spokesman Steven Wright said…
