MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A Berkeley County family is receiving emergency assistance from the American Red Cross after a house fire displaced six people over the weekend, as severe weather brought heavy rain and lightning across the Lowcountry.
According to the Red Cross, disaster-trained volunteers responded after a fire damaged a home on Novelty Lane in Moncks Corner on Sunday. The organization said it is assisting six residents by providing financial assistance for immediate needs, including food, clothing and temporary shelter, while also connecting the family with additional recovery resources.
The extent of the fire damage and whether anyone was injured have not been released.
