Charleston marks America’s 250th with flyover, bald eagle and fireworks over the harbor

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — People from across the Lowcountry and around the world gathered at Waterfront Park on Saturday to celebrate America’s 250th birthday at the Waterfront Independence Day Celebration.

The celebration started in the skies.

F-16s with the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing out of McEntire Joint Base flew over the South Carolina coast.

They were followed by a C-17 from the 437th Airlift Wing based at Joint Base Charleston and a flight of Apache helicopters in formation from the South Carolina Army National Guard’s Alpha Company, 1-151st Attack Battalion, also out of McEntire Joint Base.
