Demolition to start on former Diocese site, bringing city services closer to West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A long-vacant property that once served children, families and charitable organizations in West Ashley is about to enter its next chapter.

Charleston is preparing to begin demolition at the former Diocese property on Ingram Road, clearing the way for a new municipal campus designed to bring city services closer to residents while creating more space for a growing workforce.

Crews spent Tuesday installing fencing around the property ahead of demolition, which city officials expect to begin next week and take about a week to complete. Once the buildings come down, crews will begin preparing the site for construction…
