CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — An upcoming West Ashley development off Bees Ferry Road that has been in the process for decades now is finally seeing some movement in the planning stages.
The development, which will be known as Long Savanna, will ultimately include 1,637 total units and is being built in five phases over the next 10 to 15 years. Plans for the community include compact, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use neighborhoods, as well as a 1,628-acre county park and a 203-acre city park.
“This development comes with a lot of new infrastructure for this area of West Ashley, including contributions to more regional infrastructure like roadways and things like that that will connect areas of the community that haven’t previously been connected,” Robert Summerfield, director of planning and preservation with the city of Charleston, said…
