MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — A newly released report from the Mount Pleasant Police Department is shedding additional light on the local woman charged with a dozen counts of ill-treatment toward animals.
Audra McCall, 36, was arrested this week after Mount Pleasant police and animal control officers investigated conditions inside her Julep Drive residence. On Friday, she was granted a $60, 000 bond after appearing before a judge.
The charges stem from a July 4 welfare complaint after a pet sitter, who had been asked to care for McCall’s animals while she was out of town, sent a 911 text reporting the conditions inside the residence. According to the report, the home housed two dogs, six cats, two rabbits and two guinea pigs.

The pet sitter told investigators the floors were covered in both fresh and old feces and urine, rabbits and cats had free run of the house, and hay was scattered throughout the residence. She said every surface she touched had residue on it and that the smell of urine clung to her clothes and hair after leaving.
