Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens expected to be transferred to a nonprofit

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens is set to be donated to a nonprofit foundation, according to an announcement made during this week’s Charleston County Historic Preservation Commission meeting.

As part of the transfer, Charleston County approved a 1.53-acre carve-out for a family home. The parcel is being separated from the property for legal and tax purposes involving the McRae family and will eventually be returned to the foundation.

The remainder of Boone Hall Plantation will be transferred to the foundation and will remain protected under its existing conservation easement…
