JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) — Residents of the Sol Legare community are asking the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services to reject a permit for a second dock they say could destroy marsh and oyster beds the community has relied on for generations.
The proposed permit calls for a 929-foot private dock on King Flats. It comes after residents already fought off a previous dock proposal nearby. The Sol Legare Community is especially concerned after the community overlay district was established to preserve the historic community and control development patterns for future generations.
