Charleston woman gets probation after pleading guilty to hitting student with hammer

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A Charleston woman accused of repeatedly hitting a high school student with a claw hammer pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and was sentenced to one year of probation.

Ladaisha Drequina Almuid, 26, pleaded guilty during a Charleston County General Sessions Court hearing on Sept. 21.

The case stems from an incident on Jan. 15, 2025, near Harris Street in Charleston. A Charleston Police officer responded to a report of a physical altercation and saw Almuid swinging what appeared to be a metal claw hammer and striking a younger male, according to an arrest warrant.
