CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Traffic volumes across the Charleston region have climbed significantly over the past decade, with some of the fastest growth occurring along I-26, U.S. 52, U.S. 17 North and major roadways in Berkeley and Dorchester counties, according to a traffic count report presented in Monday’s CHATS Policy Committee.
The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments presented findings from its 2025 Regional Traffic Counts Report, which analyzed traffic data collected by the South Carolina Department of Transportation at roughly 800 count locations across the tri-county region. The report covers approximately 1,560 miles of roadway network.
