CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — The St. John’s Fire District, the Charleston Fire Department and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office are currently on scene following a hazmat spill Monday morning.
The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. when an overturned semi-truck carrying pool chemicals crashed near River and Farmland Roads. Crews are monitoring air quality at the scene as a precaution.
Fire chief Ryan Kunitzer said there are no reported injuries and there is no threat to the public. Drivers should expect an extended closure in the area into the evening as hazardous materials and recovery operations are completed…
