Charleston County jury convicts man in domestic violence case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A Charleston County jury has convicted a man of assaulting his now-ex-wife three years ago.

Lonnie Ray Booker was convicted of second-degree domestic violence.

The incident occurred on Aug. 15, 2023, when his now-ex-wife called and reported to police that her husband grabbed her by the neck and threw her from their bed because she did not want to have sex, according to Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office spokesperson Ashley Kay.

Booker then grabbed her by the neck again and threw her between furniture in their bedroom. She screamed until her son came into the room and found his mother on the floor. Officers who responded to the scene were able to confirm that the red markings they found around her neck were consistent with her being grabbed and thrown…
