Hurricane Isaias Moisture Could Dump Over 8 Inches on Savannah and 6 Inches on Charleston as Two Rainfall Hot Spots Emerge Across the Carolinas

SOUTH CAROLINA — Two rainfall hot spots are emerging across the Carolinas and Georgia as moisture from Hurricane Isaias wraps in from both the Gulf and the Atlantic. A high-resolution tropical model shows more than 4 inches of rain possible across the Lowcountry, South Georgia, and the western Carolinas. Savannah could see over 8 inches, while Charleston may pick up around 6 inches. The model may be overdoing some coastal totals, but the overall picture is becoming clearer.

Charleston could see about 6.09 inches of rain. Columbia is also in line for heavy rain, with totals near 4.80 inches, raising the risk of flooding in the Midlands.

Flood Risk Between Greenville and Columbia

A flood risk is highlighted across the region between Greenville and Columbia. Greenville is forecast to receive about 3.05 inches, while areas to the south and east may see more.
